We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

The lake district is full of hidden gems, the scenery in the lakes is amazing. You will be amazed by its beauty.

In the lake district – there is lots of hidden gems. With social media now, these can soon be overcrowded and not so much a hidden gem anymore!

Two of my favourite hidden gems are in Grasmere and I have also put an amazing hotel at which you can park for £7 for the day, but you can claim back the money within the café. We used our money to get some cakes, the cakes were amazing! I have also put my next visit hidden gem spots within the lakes.

Sour Milk Ghyll – Grasmere

Walk length from Lancrigg Hotel: 1.4km one way – round trip 2.8km.

The walk up to Sour Milk Ghyll from the hotel car park, it does have a gradual incline and an easy up hill walk to the lovely hidden gem. We visited on a hot summers day and dipping into the pool is so refreshing. Always be careful on the rocks getting into the pool as they can be very slippy at times. (If you have any water shoes or crocs – I would advise bringing them with you.

Easedale Tarn – Grasmere

Walk length from Lancrigg Hotel: 5.5km round trip.

After you pass Sour Milk Ghyll, you will keep walking up hill along the trail and then you will reach Easedale Tarn, a huge scenic lake underneath the mountains. We sat and sunbathed and went for a swim. It is very cold, so be prepared and be careful!
