Lisbon is my favourite city, honestly I am not a city person but Lisbon really surprised me! There’s something special about Lisbon, it has such a relaxed but energetic atmosphere. This post will provide you with two of the best sunset spots in lisbon. The scenery is amazing, Lisbon is full of character with the beautiful buildings and cobbled streets. It is the kind of place which makes me a normal place look like a postcard.

Lisbon is built on seven hills, therefore the city naturally has tons of elevated spots with gorgeous views of the city. The scenic spots are called miradouras which is viewpoint in Portuguese and there’s so many of them in Lisbon where you can watch a beautiful sunset.

Here are the best sunset spots in Lisbon:

Miradouro de Santa Catarina

This viewpoint is central in the city and close to Bairro Alto/Chiado. The viewpoint was 7 minutes walk away from our hotel Solar dos poetas.

This spot has a super cool atmosphere. I would say this spot is more local, locals lounging on the steps and has a little kiosk selling drinks and sometimes even live music. Its the perfect spot overlooking over the city and river, to watch the sun dipping in the horizon.

We got to this viewpoint at around 30minutes before sunset, we managed to get a seat on the steps and watch the sun go down and see the beautiful sky turn pink.

Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

This viewpoint was my favourite! This viewpoint/Miradouro is on one of Lisbon’s highest hills, this viewpoint offers some of the most panoramic views in the city. It shows the castle to the river. It’s a peaceful spot, perfect for watching the sunset away from the crowds.

I did think this viewpoint was more touristy but the views are incredible. I got to this viewpoint at around 8.50 and the sunset was 9.15pm and was still able to get some cool photos.
