Zante Shipwreck Beach, Blue Caves & Navagio Viewpoint Tour Review

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

If you’re visiting Zante, one of the trips you will definitely want to add to your itinerary is a boat tour to see the famous Shipwreck Beach and Blue Caves. We booked a tour through GetYourGuide, which also included a visit to the Navagio viewpoint, so we could see this famous part of Zakynthos from both the sea and above.

It was a great way to see more of the island, with beautiful views, clear blue water and the chance to go swimming along the way. In this post, I’m sharing my experience of the trip, what to expect and whether I think it’s worth booking!

We booked our tour through GetYourGuide, which is a useful way to find and compare excursions when planning a holiday.

Our trip firstly included two stops at view points called Viewpoint from Gigia Beach to Alykes Beach and then the famous Navagio Beach viewpoint. Then whilst we were waiting for the boat trip we stopped at Porto Vromi & the beach near the port. Our First Stops: The Viewpoints, Visiting the Navagio Shipwreck Viewpoint

The tour bus picked us up at 9am, the first stop on the tour was about 20 minutes away from our hotel in Tsilivi and we visited a beautiful viewpoint which had a coffee/snack bar which was great for grabbing a coffee and some snacks for the rest of the day. The viewpoint was called viewpoint from Xigia Beach to Alykes Beach. The viewpoint was beautiful, overlooking the cliffs and the clear blue water. We stayed here for around 30 minutes.

The second stop was the famous viewpoint which you see all over social media called Navagio viewpoint, I couldn’t wait to see it in person as it looks beautiful! The drive to the viewpoint was about 25 minutes.

The viewpoint wasn’t too busy when we visited, although I think this was probably down to the time of year. There are safety barriers along the viewpoint, which are quite high in some places, so you have to stand on a rock or find a particular spot to get a good view of the famous shipwreck on the beach.

Once you find the right spot, you get a completely different perspective of the shipwreck and the surrounding cliffs. Rather than looking towards the beach from sea level, you can appreciate the shape of the cove from above and take in the incredible clear blue water. The colour of the water was insane – I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite so blue!

This was one of my favourite parts of the trip. The views were beautiful, and it’s a great spot for photos, if you want to capture one of Zante’s most recognisable landscapes.

I’d definitely recommend checking whether your chosen tour includes the viewpoint if it’s something you’d like to visit. Not every trip necessarily includes a stop here, so it’s worth checking the itinerary before booking.

Beach Stop

After visiting the famous viewpoint, the tour bus then drove to Porto Vromi Beach which was near the port where the boat was picking us up. This beach was so beautiful and the water was so clear. It was beautiful to stop here and relax and swim after stopping at two viewpoints where it was so hot! The pictures below speak for themselves with how nice this beach is!

Stopping at the beach was another highlight of the tour!

Seeing Shipwreck Beach from the Boat

One of the main reasons we booked this tour was to see the famous Shipwreck Beach which is also one of the main reasons I think everyone does! As its one of the most recognisable sights in Zante.

Although we got to see the beach from the boat, we weren’t able to actually get onto the beach itself. This is worth knowing before booking, especially if you’re hoping to walk along the sand rather than just see the shipwreck from the water. You also cannot swim in the water near the beach as well.

Even so, it was lovely to see the beach up close and experience this part of the island by boat. I had seen on Tik Tok, that it was really busy with boats. When we visited there were only two other boats. It was beautiful to see with the backdrop of the cliffs in the background and clear blue water.

Visiting the Blue Caves and White Beach

After visiting the shipwreck on Navagio Beach, the boat stopped at some caves which we could look at from the boat. The caves were really pretty and you could see how beautiful they were with the crystal clear blue water reflecting. We couldn’t stop and swim here.

After this we stopped at the beautiful white beach. We could finally get off and swim here! YEY. It was very choppy getting off the boat and getting to the beach. The white beach was so nice with white pebbles.

After our beach stop, we continued the boat trip to the caves, where everyone had the chance to jump off the boat and swim over to explore them. This was such a fun part of the tour, and it was great to have some time to swim in the sea and even swim inside the caves!

Is the Zante Shipwreck Tour Worth It?

Overall, I loved this tour! I would definitely recommend booking it if you want to see some of the most famous spots in Zante without having to organise everything yourself.

My favourite parts were visiting the beach before the boat trip, seeing Shipwreck Beach from the boat, jumping into the sea, exploring the caves and visiting White Beach. Having the boat trip and viewpoint included made it a great way to see the area from different perspectives.

Although the boat was busy, it didn’t really bother us. However, if you prefer smaller groups or a quieter experience, it’s worth comparing the different boat trips available before booking.

Overall, the whole experience was amazing, and I couldn’t recommend it enough! It was definitely one of the best things we did in Zante.

Things to Know Before Booking

Before booking your Zante Shipwreck tour, here are a few things I’d recommend checking:

  • What’s included: The tour has multiple options, make sure you select the option which is Above & Beyond Shipwreck Tour with Pick-up & Drop-off. This includes hotel pick-up and drop-off. Boat tour to Shipwreck Beach, Blue Caves and White Beach and visit to the Shipwreck Viewpoint.
  • Boat size: We went on a large boat, which was busy but not too bad as we managed to get a seat at the top. If you prefer a more intimate experience, compare it with smaller boat trips or look at booking the private boat option.
  • What to bring: Wear swimwear and bring a towel, sun cream and water. The tour does provide you with water.
  • Departure point: The tour will pick you up from the hotel. The pick up was confirmed by email the day before the tour.
  • The itinerary: The tour was 6 hours, I felt like we had enough time to explore at each of the stops. The itinerary is on the booking link, it does change depending on the weather. If you feel like the tour doesn’t give you enough time look at other alternatives such as renting a car or a different tour.
